A post-master's certificate in a second nursing specialty or role is for nurses who have completed a master of science in nursing degree.

Graduates are employed in acute care settings, public health agencies, community agencies, and the public sector.

Gainful Employment-Higher Education Act (78 Fr666665 and FR 66832) Disclosure: Estimated program cost tuition and fees for the 20-hours Post Master’s Rural Public Health Nursing are $8,480.00(Kentucky resident), $14,760(Non-resident); 23-hours Post Master’s in Rural Health Family Nurse Practitioner $9719(Kentucky resident), $16,941(Non-resident; 22-hours Post Master’s Rural Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner $9316(Kentucky resident), $16,224(Non-resident). Two students completed the Post Master’s Rural Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner between Spring 2012 and Fall 2012; one student completed the Post Master’s in Rural Health Family Nurse Practitioner in Spring 2012. Students receiving their Post Master’s in Rural Public Health Nursing may obtain jobs in administrative, supervisory positions in local health departments, state health departments, community health centers, staff development, nurse managers, in health departments and in nursing education. Students receiving their Post Master’s in Rural Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner may obtain jobs in private practice, hospital, rural health clinics. Students receiving their Post Master’s in Rural Health Family Nurse Practitioner may obtain jobs in hospitals, emergency rooms, private medical practice, hospital owned medical clinic, rural health clinics and health departments. Students who are eligible to pursue and receive a Post Master’s Certification must hold a master of science in nursing degree from a nationally accredited program and hold a current, free and unrestricted R.N. license in an approved state with no imposed restrictions on practice, voluntary or otherwise.
